Akiya Johnson came to faith at a young age and, as a teenager, sensed God calling him to a life of evangelism. His church, Grace Community Church, led by Dr. Brian Borgman, affirmed this calling and sent him to The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

While in seminary, he served in a church restoration project at Hazelwood Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Steve Wellum. After earning his Master of Divinity (M.Div.), he was called to serve as student pastor at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. Following that role, he went on to plant Covenant Church of Jacksonville where he labors to see fruit worthy of his LORD!
